Harvest Acres: Social Language Activities for Fall is a 41 page download featuring Harvest Acres, a nice little farm where kids are busy harvesting apples and pumpkins! They even get to play in the leaves! It features activities on the farm for fall.
Harvest Acres games can be played 2 ways: Start by preparing the game board (pages 3&4) and adding dice/pawns.
Game 1: Carryover. Play with all types of language cards. Start the game on ‘start’. When you land on a space, check the location (barn , orchard, etc.). Answer the corresponding type of question (ie: if you land on the orchard, answer a compare/contrast question.) If you answer correctly, stay on the new space. If you answer incorrectly, go back to your last space.
Game 2: Specific Skill Practice. Play with only one type of language card (or one card type per student). The student should move around the board. answering the predetermined type of questions. If they answer correctly, use the game points card to determine how many points the student has earned. You can track these points on the included, ‘My Game Points’ card.
Expected/Unexpected Behavior (24 cards) Identifying an example of each for the given situation.
Recognizing Emotions (24 cards) Read the emotion listed on the card and explain a time when you might feel this way.
Identifying Social Problems and Solutions (24 cards) Read the social problem or solution card and create the opposite. ie: if you draw a solution card, think of a problem that would apply.
Idioms (24 cards) Give a sentence or explain the meaning of the given idiom.
Sarcasm (24 multiple choice) Use your tone of voice to say the phrase normally and sarcastically.
Special Cards (12 included for each game)
These card games can be used with the Harvest Acres Language and Grammar packets so easy use with mixed groups/goals.
