Harvest of Empire is both a book and a documentary setting out to educate people on specific social conditions that led many latinos to leave their homes and move to the United States. The focus in this documentary is on the impact of the U.S. Government in these particular nations and the ramifications of those actions. Based off of the Harvest of Empire book written by Juan Gonzalez, these questions are written to guide students through the film, nation by nation, part by part.
This movie guide allows students some choice in what they list in their summaries of each specific nation discussed as well as evaluating the film on the impact it had to/on them.
I have used this in a Chicano Latino Studies course, however this could be used in a film studies, a U.S. History or American Government course with ease.
