This interactive SMARTboard provides practice in choosing the correct homonym. A homonym is defined as a word that sounds the same, but it does not have the same meaning. It can be spelled the same or not spelled the same. Students will need to read the text in which the words are used to determine the correct use of the word. All slides are self checking so it works perfectly in both a small group, large group, or independent practice. Some homonym pairs include: ferry, fairy; knows, nose; mussels, muscles; mist, missed; towed, toad; minor, miner; rows, rose; tail, tale; rein, rain, reign; and more. A safeshare link is provided at the end of the lesson giving students a chance to write as many of their own homonyms as they can while the song is playing. That makes it fun!
