This middle or high school art activity is a great way to introduce, and reinforce, the drawing and shading basics.
This worksheet is an in depth study of shading with hatch lines. On the front of the worksheet are examples of a hatch line value scale, different hatch line shading techniques, creating gradation, and using a mix of hatch lines. Examples of parallel hatching, diagonal hatching, contour hatching, woven hatching, tick hatching, and pattern hatching are also included.
On the back of the worksheet the students have an activity to complete. This is a great way to determine whether or not they understand the shading concepts introduced on the front.
