This set of 28 reading comprehension task cards can be used in literacy groups, centers, or for a whole class game of Scoot. The cards target inferencing skills, main idea, poetic devices, author’s purpose, and vocabulary. Conflict, summarizing, and determining cause and effect are also targeted. The accompanying answer key can make the center self-checking if you so choose. The set of 12 writing cards at the end of the set will give you a daily journal prompt or a higher order thinking discussion question each day while you read the novel with your class or with your groups. Shortened, these could even serve as entry or exit tickets to open or close a
lesson. These cards are created to help you continue to incorporate high quality literature in your ELA program while still preparing your students for high-stakes tests.
