Take a Stroll Through the Haunted Pumpkin Patch!
Need a fun way for your students to practice their ability to count a given set of coins? How about a math center perfect for the month of October? Try the simple game on this file.
The monetary amounts are presented using quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies. One side of a paper card has the set of coins, and the respective answer (the monetary amount of the set of coins) is on the back side. Students play by adding up the set of coins that are face-up on a card, self-check the answer on the back, and if he or she is correct, they get to spin a paper-clip spinner and move through the haunted pumpkin patch that is full of a myriad of unique jack o' lanterns.
This file contains the Haunted Pumpkin Patch game board (in brown if you prefer color, in white if you don't), a paper-clip spinner (minus the paper-clip), suggested procedures and management, and a set of 30 game cards that will help students to hone their ability to count a given set of coins.
Your students are certain to have a blast playing this game, all the while becoming more fluent with their ability to count a given set of coins!
