Take a Stroll Through the Haunted Pumpkin Patch!
Need a fun way for your students to practice their respective subtraction skills? How about a differentiated math center perfect for the month of October? Try the simple game on this file.
One side of a paper card has a subtraction problem, and the other side will have its correct difference (answer). Students play by solving the problems that are face-up on a card, self-check the answer on the back, and if he or she is correct, they get to spin a paper-clip spinner and move through the haunted pumpkin patch that is full of a myriad of unique jack o' lanterns.
This file contains the Haunted Pumpkin Patch game board (in brown if you prefer color, in white if you don't), a paper-clip spinner (minus the paper-clip), suggested procedures and management, and a set of 80 game cards that will help students to sharpen their ability to subtract multi-digit numbers.
Subtraction concepts include the following:
2-, 3-, and 4-digit subtraction problems with no regrouping (borrowing)
2-, 3-, and 4-digit subtraction problems with regrouping (borrowing)
3- and 4-digit subtraction problems with no regrouping across zero
Your students are certain to have a blast playing this game, all the while furthering their ability to solve differences of multi-digit numbers!
