My kids had one of these when we started homeschooling and my teenager still uses her one seven years later.
The idea is to have one book where they can have a go writing words, sentences, doing sums and even drawing pictures. It is also great for parents or teachers or even the kids themselves (once they have checked the spelling) to have one place they can write words that they often use, but may find difficult to spell.
It is also a good book for them to have a go drawing pictures or constructing sentences.
For older kids they could write their maths formulaes in it or notes that they want easy reference to.
It is not age specific or year specific. You could make one up each year or they could have one for all their school years.
Print as many of each type of each of the pages as you feel is necessary. Plus there is a cover page which the kids can decorate and personalise.
We used bright colourful paper to make it as attractive as possible for the kids. It made it easy to find and they also liked to use it.
Page 1 has the boxes from A to Z (for writing words they need help spelling).
Page 2 has the boxes from 1 to 10 (for drawing pictures and could be used for other things)
Page 3 has the word my kids asked me to spell - I have this as the central page in their books. (Please note: We have used Australian spelling)
Page 4 has the boxes for notes (could be used to write formulaes or even notes!).
Page 5 has the boxes for sentences.
Page 6 has the cover page and back page (for decoration or personalisation)
Hope your kids love it and find it as useful as my kids have and do.

I am homeschooling Mum of four children so what I put on is whatever I couldn't easily find myself and have made for my kids and the other kids I help homeschool. So as I am relatively new to uploading and if you would like to know when I upload new items, become a follower.
Thanks for your interest and support!
