Head of the Class is a great icebreaker activity to use in your class to allow you to get to know information about your students but also to allow your students an informal way to get to know one another.
In this icebreaker, a characteristic will be displayed. If the characteristic applies to a student in your class, the student will stand up. When you give the signal, students possessing the characteristic (those standing) will come up and grab a card from standard decks of cards and then return to their seat. Play will continue until all characteristics have been given (there are 12 characteristics in the game). Players then add up their cards. Face cards are worth 10 points and aces are worth one point. The player with the most points in declared the winner.
