Standards Addressed: SS8H7 Evaluate key political, social, and economic changes that occurred in Georgia during the New South Era. a. Identify the ways individuals, groups, and events attempted to shape the New South; include the Bourbon Triumvirate, Henry Grady, International Cotton Expositions, and Tom Watson and the Populists. b. Analyze how rights were denied to African Americans or Blacks through Jim Crow laws, Plessy v. Ferguson, disenfranchisement, and racial violence, including the 1906 Atlanta Riot. c. Explain the roles of Booker T. Washington, W. E. B. DuBois, and Alonzo Herndon in advancement of the rights of African Americans or Blacks in the New South Era. d. Examine antisemitism and the resistance to racial equality exemplified in the Leo Frank case. 

Direction- Print on cardstock or regular copy paper and cut out the rectangular term

HOW TO PLAY:

  • Students may use the timer on their cellphones, if teacher does not have a timer for all students to use
  • Make sure the deck of cards are always face down and shuffled after each round
  • Pull a card from the pile, then place on your forehead so that your partner can see the term
  • You will have 1 minute to try and guess the correct word to the card you are holding
  • For every correct term guessed you will get a point
  • Your partner will give you hints to assist you to find the correct words (partner may use class notes)
  • Once you guess the correct word, place the card in the discard pile and select another one to place on your forehead until your minute is over
  • If you do not know the word, you may pass, BUT your partner will automatically get a point
  • Your partner will start the timer once he/she starts giving clues
