This rhythmic decoding version of Headbands is played similarly to "Million Dollar Pyramid." Working with a partner, students try to decode the rhythm on their headband. One partner reads the pattern that the other is wearing on their handband and the other person decodes the rhythm that the other person clapped or performed on an instrument.
Level 6 focuses on tom-ti/tam-ti (dotted quarter-eighth note) and combinations with the following rhythms:
barred eighth notes
tika-tika/tiri-tiri (four sixteenth notes)
ti-tika/ti-tiri (eighth-two sixteenths)
tika-ti/tiri-ti (two sixteenth-eighth)
There are two versions of each set of cards: one written in stick notation without note heads and one written in stick notation with note heads.
** These are not specific to a rhythmic duration counting system so they will easily work interchangeably with what you use in your classroom
