This lesson includes:

(These activities meet State, National, and Common Core Standards)

1. Mayo Clinic Food Pyramid Version:

-Students write a food journal of the food they ate yesterday and then tally on the Mayo Clinic Pyramid Worksheet

-Next they analyze Joe, who they met earlier when they learned about calories.

-Next they give Joe a healthier day of meals using all the correct food groups.

-Lastly, they personalize in a blank food pyramid to post on their refrig with only foods they like to help remind them to eat from all food groups.

-One Follow-up activity included is an "Are You Eating Healthy?" Survey, where survey questions connect with what they learned in the "Food Groups" lesson.

-A blank pyramid is also included if you want to give a follow-up quiz.

-A food tally worksheet for students is also included if they want to try to hold themselves accountable for eating healthy.

-A PowerPoint will walk you step-by-step through these activities

2) MyPlate Version:

-Students fill out a MyPlate Worksheet using a key with the serving sizes

-Students next tally what they ate the previous day and see how it matches their MyPlate worksheet

-There is a fun "My Own MyPlate" where students fill in only the food THEY like on a MyPlate template

-Students can take a quiz on the MyPlate information

-There is also an optional paper plate art project idea!

-A PowerPoint will walk you through these activities
