This file is implemented at a middle school level, but can be used by any level just by having the teacher make their own modifications. The following objectives are covered: During a lesson on MyPlate, students will be able to create an accepting environment for all students by listening to everyone’s questions and answers for the entire lesson. During the lesson on MyPlate, students will be able to recall all the food groups and it’s servings by placing the correct serving sizes with the food group it’s for during the game with 100% accuracy.During the lesson, students will be able to recall proper form of rolling a ball by hitting down bowling pins with great accuracy for the duration of the activity. During this lesson the teacher will need to go over serving sizes, food groups and portions or review the serving sizes for each food group to begin the activity. The teacher can make a handout with the notes they cover in class for the activity, but no worksheet is required for this at all. This activity is done is small groups and will require some bowling pins (bottles can be used to substitute) and a few nerf balls to assist in the myplate game. Nice activity to get the students up and moving related to serving sizes. Space requirements could be the only issue for this activity or equipment. Adapt it based on the size of your classes. Enjoy!
