Here is a great unit that will introduce adolescents to the importance of making healthy eating choices. Through exploration and customization of Canada's Food Guide, food group and "foods to limit" sorting, and multiple mini challenges, your students will get the opportunity to consider the choices they make daily when it comes to eating. Many of the challenges incorporate math, from data collection, to graphing to multiplication (or repeated addition), your students will have the opportunity to practically use math. There are also multiple opportunities to incorporate technology.
Some of the activities are best suited to younger grades (Gr. 1&2), while others may be more suited to older grades (Gr. 5&6), most of the activities in this unit could be completed by students in Gr. 2-5!
