This healthy dating/friendship guidance lesson has lots of helpful information for students who are trying to create and maintain healthy friendships and romantic relationships. It is also ideal for students just starting to navigate the dating world. This resource includes an extensive guidance lesson on fostering healthy relationships and on avoiding preteen/teen dating violence. It also has an alternate lesson on friendship for students who are not mature enough for the dating subject matter. This resource can be taught in a whole class guidance lesson, in a health class, or in a small group session. It can also be co-taught with the counselor beginning the lesson and the teacher following up and finishing the lesson. The duration of the lesson is from 45 minutes to 3 hours, depending on how in-depth the counselor goes into the relationship instruction and how long the students spend on the acrostic art work application activity. This resource includes 1 lesson plan, multiple relationship and teen dating violence resources, a "Do You Have an Emergency?" poster, counselor request forms, an acrostic art project, and more! This lesson is appropriate for students in grades three through twelve.
