This Seek and Find activity has lots of uses for developing speech and language.
This product includes 36 picture cue cards with descriptions, 36 picture cue cards without descriptions, one Picture Page, and one Directions Page.
The goal of this product is to have the student recall and find the items and then state/describe the items that were found. This addresses auditory memory/recall, listening for details, expressive language (describing), and attention.
Activities might include:
Using the picture cue cards with descriptions, discuss the picture descriptions identifying elements that are a part of the given description.
Using the picture cue cards without descriptions, have the students provide a description of the pictured item.
Using the Seek and Find Directions page, read each item aloud and have the students race to see who can find the item(s) first.
Using the picture cue cards without a description, stack the cards face down and have the students draw cards and provide a description of the item for other students to seek and find.
After finding an item or items, have the students use complete sentences to tell what they found, i.e. “I found a girly seahorse.” This addresses auditory memory/recall and use of information in a sentence form.
Have students choose an image on the Picture Page, then have them describe the location of the item in a sentence or tell two things they know about the item. The other students should try to guess which picture the student is describing.
Have the students practice formulating questions. Each student can choose an image and ask a question about the image.
For students working on articulation, monitor speech sound production as students formulate unique, spontaneous sentences or questions.
