Say That Sound!
The purpose of this game is to encourage students to discuss their thinking of the parts of words. For example, “The words hat and rat have the same ending!” Whoever can say the word, say the parts, repeat the word and get to the end of the path first, WINS!
- 1 die
- The Say the Sound Game board
- 2 players
- Counters or other objects to be used as game pieces
First decide who will go first. That person rolls the die. Move that amount of spaces. Whatever space the person lands on, that individual must say the word, then say it's parts, then say the word again. Then hand the die off to the other player. The first person to get to the end of the path, wins!
***When saying the parts it can be differentiated to beginning sounds, ending sounds, middle sounds, and all three sounds. It all depends on what will benefit your students most.
Example: If a student lands on “hat” they would say, “hat, h-a-t, hat”
***Print the game board onto card-stock and laminate for a longer lasting product!
