These heart mandalas are a fun way for students to celebrate Valentine’s Day while learning some art-making skills.
We start by learning what a mandala is and looking at some examples. The children create their heart mandalas with watercolor paper (12” x 12” or 9” x 9”), oil pastels, and watercolors (pan sets or liquid).
These brightly colored hearts are great as individual artworks matted on white or colored construction paper, or as a collaborative piece matted together on a bulletin board.
Time Required: 45 minutes + 10 minutes the next class.
