This lab covers heart rate and has the student manipulate their own heart rate while designing their own experiment using the scientific method. The lab guides the student through the steps of the scientific method by providing instruction of how to complete each section. Students enjoy the freedom of picking how they want to manipulate heat rate (what has worked well in my classroom is temperature, exercise and music). The lab includes questions to think about when writing a literature review and conclusion, websites to guide their literature review and a graphic organizer for organizing their information before writing the literature review. This lab could be easily modified as a template for other labs besides heart rate and it works great as an assessment over the scientific method.
