Here are the instructions for this activity:
You are transplant doctors, and your job is to decide who will receive organ transplants. You are meeting today to confer about the following candidates to see who will move up to the number 1 spot to get the next available heart. You do not know their names; all you know is their physical health, age, and a few tidbits of their personal history. All of the candidates are in general good health, other than the fact they have all been diagnosed with a heart condition that necessitates receiving a new heart in order to live.
Appoint one spokesperson for your group and one person to take notes. Your group needs to decide-UNANIMOUSLY- who will receive the heart and you need to list your reasons for your decision. You also need to list your reasons for denying the heart to the other 5 candidates. This CANNOT be a majority vote. EVERYONE must vote the same way. Your group spokesperson will address the class and give its reasons for choosing the recipient and denying the other patients.
