This activity has students perform various activities, such as jumping jacks or dancing, and record their heart rate after each activity. Students then examine their heart rate across each activity and write a paragraph describing their observations.
I usually use this activity during the first week of school to introduce scientific thinking. It also serves as a great "Practice following directions!" lesson for the first week of school. You could also use it as part of a unit about exercise or the cardiovascular system.
The download includes a student worksheet and teacher instructions. I've always had fun with this activity, and I hope you do as well!
