Teaching about heat transfer, heat conduction, or properties of metal or water?
Let students measure the movement of heat for themselves with this printable lab activity!
Also available as a part of the Heat and Heat Transfer Teacher Pack.
Objective: Students will be able to record and analyze data showing heat transfer through conduction.
Notes: This lab can be used as an introduction or reinforcement for the topic of heat transfer or heat conduction. The basic setup involves two insulated cups connected by a conductive substance (copper tubing works great)! One cup is filled with warm/hot water, while the other is filled with ice water. Students track and analyze the temperature differences over time.
