Product Description
Science is always more fun with experiments!! During your heat unit, incorporate this experiment to demonstrate heat transfer through different materials. Students will get the handout (as seen in the preview) and all directions, materials, and procedures are listed on the handout. Students will use foam cups filled with hot water and put a wooden spoon, metal spoon, and plastic spoon in each cup. After one minute, students will feel the spoons to determine which material heat transfers through fastest. This is also a great experiment to talk about the vocabulary: conductor and insulator.

Teachers will need to assist with this experiment due to the hot water. I did this during science centers and it worked well! After the experiment is over, students have 4 follow-up questions to answer on the handout.
