This lesson is part of the complete Energy Unit (see link below) but can be taught independently. It begins with students simulating the vibration of molecules to show how heat is transferred through conduction, convection, and radiation. Students will then complete a melting ice experiment by using the different heat transference methods. A worksheet will guide students through the process having them develop a plan, make predictions, complete the experiment, and then answer questions to develop understanding.
