Science comes to life with experiments!

Spice up your heat unit with these TWO experiments!

The first experiment is an experiment to show heat transfer. Students will put hot water in a foam cup and put 3 different spoon materials in each of the cups. Students will wait a few minutes to see which spoon material conducted the heat the best. Vocabulary to know: conductor.

The second experiment is an experiment to show how temperature changes. Students will get a cup of hot water. Students will measure the temperature of the hot water. Then, students will drop one ice cube into the hot water and see what happens and record the new temperature. Students will do this procedure 3 times adding one ice cube at a time and see what happens. Students will observe what happens to the ice cube in the hot water and how the hot water was affected by the ice cube addition.

My students love these experiments and it helps bring some fun to the heat unit!!
