My InFACT Science Stories help students grasp the meanings of essential science vocabulary words by using and defining them in context. Meanwhile, the story helps demonstrate where science can be found in the world around us, such as around a swimming pool on a hot summer day. This helps ground the terms in reality, ensuring their understanding is not purely abstract.
Each InFACT Science Story Reading Activity comes with Story Questions and a Vocabulary sheet for the students to complete. Two versions of the story are included. One has the vocabulary words underlined and lines numbered, while the other does not. Both have a wide right margin that can be used for notes and annotations.
How you use the Story will depend on your students' needs. You can use it as an introduction to the words, or as a review. You can read the story as a class, individually, or with groups or partners. It can be part of a science center or used for homework. Just think of how it will work best for you and your students.
