This is a great PowerPoint activity that engages students in constructing their own understanding of heat transfer. Students study 6 different pictorial representations of heat transfer and make observations of each. Students find patterns and draw conclusions about each form of heat transfer based on the pictures and students discussion. The activity requires students to form their own definitions of the three forms of heat transfer and to draw their own pictorial representation of these concepts. I love this PowerPoint because it is students centered, facilitates accountable talk and discussion while aligning to the NGSS teaching model. Students gain deep understanding when they construct their own conceptual understanding. I also have a recording sheet to accompany this PowerPoint available, but it is separate because I didn't know how to add two documents in one sale. This is a powerful activity. I hope you enjoy.
