If you have already purchased one of those sets then you already have a "Heat Transfer Set" that is similar, but not exactly the same as this one. This set has the same questions or clues, but they are in a different order and, therefore has a different answer key. Both themes are great to use for extra practice!
Your treasure hunters will learn about about "Heat Transfer" by completing a 12 card domino path matching activity.
The first card will say “Start” and will have the first question. Find the answer to the first question and place it above the start card. The card that has the first answer will also have the second question. Continue to find the matches until you have created the entire “Leprechaun's path to the pot of gold! The last card will have the last answer and will also say “Finish”.
This activity can be used for individual students, learning centers, stations, pairs, or as a group activity. All you need to do is print, laminate, and cut the clue cards. A Leprechaun's Map to the Gold is also provided for the students to create the path on. The map makes it extra easy for you to grade visually, however, you can also allow students to record answers on the provided answer sheet.

This activity is designed to help students obtain a basic knowledge of concepts associated with heat transfer.
Students must have a basic knowledge of heat and heat transfer in order to achieve goals and objectives that are associated with the following Next Generation Science Standards:
MS-PS3-4. Plan an investigation to determine the relationships among the energy transferred, the type of matter, the mass, and the change in the average kinetic energy of the particles as measured by the temperature of the sample.
HS-PS3-2. Develop and use models to illustrate that energy at the macroscopic scale can be accounted for as a combination of energy associated with the motion of particles (objects) and energy associated with the relative position of particles (objects).
HS-PS3-4. Plan and conduct an investigation to provide evidence that the transfer of thermal energy when two components of different temperature are combined within a closed system results in a more uniform energy distribution among the components in the system (second law of thermodynamics).
