Children will observe and describe a slice of white bread.
They will notice that it is white, soft, and cool to the touch.
There are 2 levels to differentiate. One has the step by step process typed in and they only draw pictures of the steps and another where they do the writing.
Children can record observations on lab sheet.
Then, they will dip a cotton swab into a cup of milk or water that has been colored with food coloring. They will decorate a simple picture on their bread. Now they will notice that the bread feels wet.
Teacher will help them place bread into a pop up toaster to toast.
When toast pops up, they will record the changes in their bread’s appearance. It should now be a light brown color overall with a colored design, hard, dry and warm to the touch.
They can top their Monster Toast with butter and jam and eat it!
