These resources are designed to teach the heating curve, heat of vaporization, heat of fusion, and phase changes to grades 8-11. There are 3 separate handouts showing the heating curve. You can see all of them in the preview. The first is labeled with letters assigned to different portions of the 'curve.' There is a separate handout with questions for this graph. Answer key is included. The second heating curve graph is simply a resource for student binders. The third heating graph is blank. This is provided for you to give as practice or to label as a class. Also included is a lab on the heating curve of water. Ahead of time, you freeze water in beakers. Students heat the water to boiling while recording temperature and states of matter present along the way. Instructions are provided for students to make a color coded graph afterwards. It doesn't work perfectly, but it does provide a good illustration on how the temperature rises according to phases of matter present. It seems really boring, but students are amazed when they actually sit to make their graphs.
These resources are all shown in the preview. All of these resources are also available at a discount in my States of Matter Bundle
