This resource is also technology friendly! It can be utilized in classrooms where computers or tablets are central to instruction because the resource has been adapted for digital completion. The resources include links for students to complete any work assigned, such as in-class tasks and quizzes, online via Google Slides™ and Google Forms. For instance, students can work with the documents in Google Drive™ or via Google Classroom. With these links, you can have students complete their assignments and quizzes online. All they will have to do for the student pages is either create a text box or fill out a form! There are links for every student page and quiz, making the format friendly not only for technology but also trees. (NOTE: Not all assignments may be conducive to digital completion; however the pages are still provided in the digital format.) The resource includes:
Vocabulary Words List: The lists identify 40 vocabulary words that are used throughout the novel. The 40 words are broken into 4 different lists. Use one list, use two, or any combination to differentiate for your students’ needs.
Vocabulary Graphic Organizers: The organizers offer different format options for students to take notes on the identified words. You can choose the format that works best for your classroom, but each one will see students build their knowledge of the word through application stems.
Vocabulary Words Practice: The vocabulary activity is a fun game students can play individually, in pairs, groups, or as a whole class. Students roll a die and the number rolled pairs with a specific task for students to complete. Students must either define the word, provide synonyms, provide antonyms, draw the meaning, create a sentence, or make a personal connection.
Vocabulary Flashcards: Flashcards are a great source of practice, and we know students need to practice their vocabulary. These 40 flashcards will help them! Each one provides the definition of the word, synonyms, antonyms, and a space for students to draw a visual to help them remember it. The cards can be creatively used – whether that means homework practice, interactive games, or any other great idea - to suit your students and class.
Vocabulary Crossword Puzzles: The four crossword puzzles test students’ knowledge of ten vocabulary words. The puzzle prompts include definitions, synonyms, antonyms, or fill-in-the-blank to challenge students to apply their knowledge of definitions in different formats.
Vocabulary Quizzes: The four vocabulary quizzes assess students’ knowledge on ten vocabulary words. All quizzes are matching and fill-in-the-blank.
Vocabulary Resources Answer Key: The answer key provides the definition, location of the word in Hello, Universe, part of speech, synonyms, antonyms, and an example sentence for all vocabulary words. Answer keys for crossword puzzles and quizzes are also provided.
