Reading is meant to be more than running sight over words strung together. The older students get, the more able they should become to get deeper meaning from the text they read.
Working with teens, especially young ones, is difficult sometimes when it comes to illusive concepts. This file is designed to offer concrete analysis help as students write responses that show critical thinking.
Examples are offered, the file is a collection of areas that readers should consider as they read and then offers areas in which to practice expanding those findings, looking for deeper meaning.
For more help with either written responses or summaries, look at my Hexagon Response tool and presentation or for help with summaries, look at the High 5 Summary Guide (and presentation).
