Looking for a creative way to assess student knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of the President of the United States? This set of two writing activities requires students to demonstrate higher levels of thinking--understand, apply, and create--and utilize their imagination as they compose a "Help Wanted" ad and/or write a cover letter for the job of President of the United States. This engaging activity is perfect for Presidents' Day or to complement a unit on the branches of government.

The following items are included in the file:
--Suggested Uses
--Hail to the Chief! Roles and Responsibilities of the President
--Got What It Takes to Be President? Graphic Organizer
--Got You Covered! Sample Cover Letter
--Rubrics for Help Wanted Ad and Cover Letter

This resource is also included in my United States Government and Elections Unit, which incorporates three mini-units--Government, Presidential Elections, and Voting--into one comprehensive, well-organized unit that guides students through the foundations of the U.S. government, political parties, the election process, and the history and importance of voting in the United States.
