Do your students get confused trying to differentiate between linking verbs and helping verbs? You are not alone. Teach your students to recognize the difference between the two using these 24 task cards.
The first 20 task cards ask the students to read the sentences on the card and to then determine whether the verb used is a helping verb or a linking verb. The last 4 task cards ask the students to read a set of sentences and then choose the one that identifies the linking verb.
These cards can be used as a test prep activity, a simply review activity, bell ringers, exit slips, or as a pre-test or post-test activity for young learners.
I recommend printing these cards off on cardstock and laminating them. This way you can use them over and over again. You can use these cards as they are or place them on book rings to help keep them organized. Next, provide students with the answer key sheet. Now, you are all set.
