This is a unit I teach during my Inventors & Inventions Unit in the Gifted and Talented class. It consists of three different parts. The first part involves students learning about Henry Ford through a slide presentation and thinking about how the invention of the automobile changed society. Students will also brainstorm the positive and negative aspects of the invention. The second part of this unit has students use pictures, a number of primary resources are included, to examine Model T's and how they changed over time. Students will compare Model T cars with cars today and then brainstorm what they believe cars will be like in the future. As the final part of this unit, students learn about different advertising techniques. Different advertising techniques with definitions and examples are included. Lastly, students will design an advertisement for the car of the future they create. Guidelines for this project are included, as well as student examples and a rubric. PowerPoint presentations have been exported to a PDF so they cannot be edited.
