This Matrix was created to use with Henry and Beezus by Beverly Cleary. It is a grid of 40 activities designed to address Gardner's Eight Multiple Intelligences. In this book, Henry Huggins has decided to start a bike fund in hopes of buying the bicycle of his dreams. However, his ideas to earn money do not quite work out like he planned.
There are several ways to use the Matrix. You can use it as an independent study, small group book club, or as a whole class. When assigning points, you can assign the same amount to each student or differentiate the assignment to meet individual needs by assigning each student the number of points based on their ability level.
Students truly enjoy the freedom of choice on which activities they complete and find this matrix a refreshing change from just answering comprehension questions to a book.
