There are so many benefits to reading picture books in upper elementary classrooms. I've created these guided read alouds to accompany the different picture books that you read to your students. Please note that this resource only contains supplemental material to use AFTER reading the featured text. The picture book is not included in this resource.
This guided read aloud is focused on the picture book, Henry's Freedom Box. The following is included:
-vocabulary words (three different options: vocabulary posters, word wall/pocket chart cards/ card size that can be used as flash cards or in small group instruction)
-Vocabulary Frayer models for all 10 vocabulary words
-graphic organizers (theme, story elements, cause and effect, compare and contrast, characterization, figurative language simile and metaphor)
-Check for Understanding questions (can be used as a quiz)
-Constructed response question stems for text based evidence
