This organizer can be used after reading Henry's Freedom Box. The first page helps students summarize important ideas from the text. The second page can be used to help students plan their own Freedom Box writing. Students will imagine they are like Henry, escaping to freedom in their own box. They will plan what their box will look like, what happens to them on their journey, and how they feel when they have finally arrived in Philadelphia, just like Henry!
When I do this writing with my students, to make their pages extra special-- we dye the pages with coffee to make them look old and weathered!
