This is one of my favorite ways to increase student learning and interest in a topic without giving a huge packet that immediately shuts a student (and their parents) down.
This Heredity Bingo Card offers 16 different learning opportunities for students currently studying genes/heredity in their class or for those interested in the topic who might be needing a creative way to extend their learning. The bingo card focuses on vocabulary, reading articles, note taking after watching videos, creating their own experiments, reading books and summarizing newfound knowledge, studying & applying information about animal adaptations to their own life, etc. This is a great way to creatively engage hungry learners while meeting state standards.
This bingo card requires time and effort on behalf of the student. Be sure to give appropriate time for them to finish. I recommend attaching this card to a folder so all work can be included and kept track of. The use of class Dojo points and/or various awards is a great incentive for encouraging students to achieve a "blackout." Print on cardstock in a bright color to make this activity truly POP in the minds of your students!
