Great for Hispanic Heritage Month! (Sept. 15-Oct. 15 2015)
You are viewing the instruction sheet for a heritage project that works really well with heritage language learners. The project has 2 parts:
1. A bilingual poem that expresses how you feel about your heritage (In Spanish & English)
2. A heritage presentation where you speak entirely in Spanish about your heritage.
The sheet also includes learning targets to be assessed with the project.
This project works really well at the beginning of the year because it gives the students an opportunity to explore what heritage means to them in a way that honors their experience of being split between American and another Latino identity. It also allows the students to get to know each other and the teacher a bit more. I would usually do the project myself as well.
*This project was intended for an AP Spanish Language class. Therefore, all instructions and learning targets are in Spanish with an intermediate level of vocabulary.
Message me if you have any questions or want to know how to incorporate this project into your Spanish class!
