A PowerPoint slideshow collection of writing prompts for heritage Spanish students (or AP Spanish students). Originally designed to be used once a week for the entire school year as a beginning-of-class "warm up" or "do now" for bilingual students enrolled in Spanish language arts courses.
In my classroom:
I created prompts that get students reflecting on themselves and on things we've worked on or discussed in class. Every Thursday of the school year, students will come into class, take out a sheet of paper and a writing utensil, and spend up to 15 minutes writing. At the beginning of the school year, they were asked to spend five full minutes writing and we slowly progressed to 15 minutes over the course of the year. The expectation was that they would indeed be writing for the full amount of time (even if that meant they were writing the same sentence over and over about being stuck). I graded students' participation and effort to write in Spanish but never collected or graded their actual writing as long as they were writing for the full amount of time. After writing, we opened the floor to voluntary sharing.

Please edit these prompts or order these prompts as you see they best fit your class and progression! If you have problems--please let me know! I invite your feedback on improving this slideshow. Additionally, I would love to hear your experience using these prompts in your classroom. ¡Muchísimas gracias!
