Thiis is a hero study bundle of three learning and fun-fiiled products to help enhance any social studies unit on heroes.
Set 1:Everyday Hero Flipbook
In second grade, studying heroes is part of the social studies curriculum. As part of that unit, I have the students make a flip book on EVERYDAY heroes.
Included in this offering is:
*an introductory unit lesson plan
*a graphic organizer to assist the development of vocabulary and descriptive words to use in the hero unit
*a diagram of the flip book and directions on how to make it
*6 sticker or printing options: sentences on the kind of everyday heroes and sentences that tell students what to draw on the flip book pages.
Set 2: Hero Award
The Hero Award is a writing project/activity that can be a supplementary activity for the social studies unit on People Who Make a Difference. It can also be a fun activity to do for any unit of study.
For this award, the students select someone they know that they consider their hero. My students select a variety of different people as the hero they want to award: their mom, dad, best friend, a grandparent, and even their dog.
* Brainstorm worksheet
* Hero Award with writing lines
* Hero Award alternate choices
Set 3: Hero Quilt
As part of the second grade social studies curriculum, the students learn about heroes. At sometime during that unit, I have the students complete a hero quilt square. I make a quilt of the squares with butcher paper and construction paper. It looks great as a bulletin board or banner.
Included is a lesson plan, a quilt square with directions for the student, a sample of a quilt square, and a colored quilt example.
