These same activities with additional forms and information are found in Heroes - Common Core Aligned Full Day for Your Sub (http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Heroes-A-Common-Core-Aligned-Full-Day-For-Your-Sub-14651)
Social Studies, character education, and writing are combined in a study of Historical, Real-Life, and Fictional heroes. Students will read comprehension passages about each kind of hero, and then
choose heroes to research and write about (using graphic organizers provided). They will practice sign language and braille. They will choose their favorite fictional characters from books,
movies, and TV. They will begin an interactive Hero Journal to record names in weeks ahead - because "thinking about our heroes helps us know the kind of people we want to become." They will put 8 descriptive adjectives in ABC order and write their own sentences using these words.
Math activities include: practice adding, subtracting, and multiplying whole numbers while filling in the sign: “You Have the Power to be a Hero." They will complete a multiplication grid (by memory or by using available classroom resources). They will play the Heroes Board Game while computing two digit multiplication and long division problems and reviewing concepts learned about Heroes.
If time permits at the end of the day, there are suggestions for games to play for extending comprehension of new vocabulary words.
"Just for fun" pages on sign language and braille are included
