Product Description
Aligned with the Ontario Curriculum - Mathematics for primary French Immersion.

Through these engaging activities your students will;

• Estimate, measure and describe the passage of time
• Read digital and analogue clocks
• Identify benchmark times such as waking up, going to school, bedtime.
• Name and order the days of the week, months, and seasons.
• Read or listen to a short passage then place the events in chronological order.

☼ J'apprends l'HEURE ☼

• Cover page for creating booklets or adding to science notebooks (black & white version of the product cover)

• Mon horloge - Make a clock to use for practicing telling time. I would recommend copying these onto card stock so they last longer. 2 versions are included; second version shows the 'windows' for each hour. This helps younger students tell time correctly when the hour hand is between numbers. These could also be attached directly into a notebook by punching a hole through the hands, clock and page all at once with a brad fastener!

• Combien de temps ça prend? Flip Book to develop a sense of time. Choose from the pictures and glue them under the appropriate flap to show what takes 'environ une seconde, une minute, une heure'. Copy the blank flaps x2 to provide your students with six actions under each flap. Note: There are extra images to allow for some flexibility with choosing what to include in their flip book. Students should be able to reason how they made their choices.

• Combien de temps ça prend? Another Flip Book to develop a sense of time. Choose from the pictures and glue them under the appropriate flap to show what takes 'environ 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes'. Copy the blank flaps x2 to provide your students with six actions under each flap. Note: There are extra images to allow for some flexibility with choosing what to include in their flip book. Students should be able to reason how they made their choices.

• Telling time to the hour and half hour over the course of a day. Add benchmark times to the clocks (one page digital, one page analogue).

• C'est l'heure! Students will conduct a series of experiments to discover how long certain things take. They will estimate and then measure using different tools (stopwatch, clock, timer, sand timer). These work great as a culminating activities and assessment tools for both Math and Science!

Teacher Tip: Scan the pages before doing the activities as you will need to gather supplies for measuring time; stopwatches, sand timers, blocks, skipping ropes, pylons, dice.

→ If you run these activities during Math centers, you will need less materials to gather as students will be working on different tasks at each station.

• Quelle heure est-it? 32 colour task cards to practice telling time. Transfer the time from analogue to digital and vise versa. Recording sheet is included along with the answer key for students to check their work. I recommend laminating and using these cards as 'write & wipe' so students can practice drawing the hands on the clocks and writing the numbers too! Hint: Clocks #1-16 are Digital to Analogue and clocks #17-32 are Analogue to Digital → Assign the appropriate half as you teach each concept. Recording sheets can be cut in half for this purpose or held onto until they are ready to complete them.

• Ordre chronologique- Two original short story passages (Mon bonhomme de neige, Chez le dentiste) that can be read aloud or independently. Students will cut and glue the events in sequence according to the story.

• Les jours de la semaine - Write the days of the week in order.

• Les mois de l'année - Write the months of the year in order.

• Les saisons - Identify the 4 seasons and place them in the correct order (Cycle des saisons). You can have students write and draw inside the circle or use the corresponding page to colour, cut and glue!

• Mon calendrier - Identify the elements of a calendar then write the date!

• Clock Numbers (Colour and Black & White) - Decorate around your clock with this fun and colourful digital addition to your school clock. BW version is perfect for saving ink or copying onto bright colour paper of your choice!

I hope this mini-unit gives your students lots of practice that's lots of fun too!
