My kids love reader’s theatre. It is often hard to find story scripts for the varying levels in my classroom. I also want to work on fluency, identifying characters, setting and events, work on sight words and rhyming. I want to be able to do some “character study” and looking deeper into a story. So, I designed this unit to do all of those things as well as have some fun while doing it!
In this unit you will find:
-“Write the Room” filled with the story characters as well as some of the challenge words from the story and a student response sheet.

-Words to know sheet (to introduce sight words, picture words and challenge words before you read.

-Poem sheet 3 ways: color, black and white and black and white with “stickers” for the children to place on the sheet as they read the poem.
-Readers Theatre play/script 3 ways: full color with pictures, a mixture of color and black and white so as to save on colored ink, all black and white.
-Extra “props” to make the acting out/reading the story fun, including:
-character crowns (in color and black and white)
-pointers for tracking print
-puppets in color and black and white
-discussion question cards
-circle map of characters in color and black and white
-T- charts for each character (is, does, sees) in color and black and white
-Charts for comparing characters in color and black and white
-close reading pages for the poem (cut and paste and fill in the blank)
-Emergent reader with pic
-Emergent reader with “stickers” of the characters to place on the pages
-foldable booklet with the poem in color and black and white
-foldables for all of the characters, beginning middle and end and each character
