Discussing behavioral adaptations or just hibernation? This STEM project is the perfect way to wrap up your learning in a fun and interactive way. Using only mini-marshmallows and toothpicks, students build a "den" or structure that can hold a five inch tall animal, stands alone, and is not connected to anything. Students are given a planning sheet along with a debrief page to discuss what was hard, what other materials they wish they had, the easiest part, and why they enjoyed the activity.
This activity is perfect for cooperative learning and is set up to complete in groups!
