Using an old favorite, your primary elementary students will experience music making with a broken chord bordun and an ostinato pattern accompaniment. The lesson brings your students step by step through performing an ostinato pattern, beginning with a vocal ostinato, adding body percussion, performing it on unpitched percussion, and finally playing it in a complete performance with the broken chord bordun and singers. My second grade students were able to successfully maintain all the parts of this piece, and their performance sounded polished by the end of one class! Your students will not only enjoy this lesson, but they will meet a multitude of objectives within it! Included with this lesson are lesson suggestions, assessment opportunities, and the sheet music of my original Orff arrangement.
