This product includes Resource 1 and Resource 3 from the bundled unit Sentence Fragment BOOT CAMP
Resource 1: Seven Types of Fragments (Handouts)
These five handouts explain the grammar behind the seven types of sentence fragments (gerund phrase, participial phrase, infinitive phrase, appositive phrase, prepositional phrase, dependent clause, and incomplete verb). Use these materials in any of the following ways:
*Use the handouts for lecture-based whole-group instruction.
*Have students create a flap-book foldable using the handouts. Each flap could be a fragment type with room for the student’s notes.
*Assign the fragment types to pairs or small groups and have teams present those fragment types to the class.
Resource 3: Hidden Fragment Search
Distribute this fragment search to each student along with a highlighter or colored pencil. Each student must find and mark all seven fragments, identify the types, and correct them. The teacher could use the search as a bell ringer review, summary exercise, competitive game, non-graded formative assessment, test element, tutorial activity, or homework assignment.A teacher key is provided.
