This is a fun game designed to reinforce CVC recognition and identification. 160 CVC words are included, divided by vowel.
Featured word families include:
Select which word cards you wish to use and photocopy them onto cardstock and laminate for durability. You can focus on a single vowel or mix and match to suit your needs. Blank cards are included so that you may add your own items. You will also need to select and prepare the two pages of “special” cards of the Month:
December = snow people and igloos
January = penguins and polar bears
February = hearts and cupids
One at time, invite the children to come up and choose a CVC card to read. If s/he is correct, the card is removed to reveal what is behind. If there is a “special” card, either a treat is provided or an action is performed.
The CVC card is returned to its place in the pocket chart. For children new to this game, you may wish to turn the card backward so that it is not selected again. Keep the card facing forward for a more difficult challenge. In subsequent plays of the game, some of the "special" cards are removed to increase the difficulty/suspense factor.
