Here is an easy and fun sight word formative assessment. Simply hang or place on a table the words you want to check and have students high-five the ones they can read. There are high five record sheets for you to write the words on the hands for 5, 8, 10 or 12 words with two choices of the wording on each sheet. They say, "The highlighted words are the ones I knew today." or "The highlighted words are the ones I need to practice." There are 100 fry words on colorful hand prints and 8 blank hands for additional words that you may wish to add.
These can also be used when you introduce new sight words by hanging one or two words up near the door or other space then have students high five out the door. You can use the words on a display of introduced sight words if you choose.
They can simply be flash cards too.
